The first thing we wanted to do when we received our in-house UX 5000 was, of course, play around with the IP-CTS terminal. One of the more interesting features of the IP-CTS is the ability to download custom ring tones and photos for a screen saver. From what we can tell this is done by FTP (keep in mind we have no documentation yet so there may be an easier way).
For the FTP program we use for FTP is ALFTP and can be downloaded here: http://www.altools.com/ALTools/ALFTP.aspx. The .WAV file needs to be either 8Khz (max 30 seconds) or 16Khz (max 16 seconds).
- Make a folder under My Documents and name it ringtones.
- Download your .WAV files into the ringtone folder.
- Start up the FTP program and click on Run Server then choose My Documents as the home folder.
Now that the FTP server is running you need download the file to the terminal:
- Press the Menu button on the IP-CTS phone
- Touch the settings icon
- Touch the download icon
- Touch ftp settings
- Put ringtones in for the folder field then click OK.
- Click back then select download address and insert the IP address of the computer that is running your FTP program and press OK.
- Press download files and select ring tones. Select ringtone 1, 2 or 3. Insert the name of the .WAV file and press Execute.
If you watch the FTP program it should show the IP-CTS phone connecting and downloading the file. You then need to go to the user settings -> incoming call -> Ringtone -> External -> Then choose download 1, 2 or 3 to set the IP-CTS terminal to use the new ringtone.
